Skylar Smith

Co-Founder 

Skylar Smith is an artist, curator, and educator with a BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has taught college-level art studio and art history courses for over a decade at the University of Louisville and Jefferson Community and Technical College — including college-level courses for incarcerated adults — and is currently Artist-in-Residence at Francis Parker School. She is a founding member of Kentucky College of Art + Design (KyCAD) and a Certified Yoga Teacher. Her work has been exhibited regionally and internationally, including in Chicago, Louisville, New Delhi, and Lima, Peru, and she has received multiple grants from the Kentucky Foundation for Women and Great Meadows Foundation. Skylar's work is rooted in a belief that art can heal and offer light in uncertain times — the philosophical heart of Sage Light Studio.



Amy King
Co-Founder 

Amy King is the founder of King Art Collective (est. 2011), a full-service art consultancy based in Chicago and Louisville serving architecture firms, designers, civic institutions, and private collectors across the United States. Over 15 years, she has built close working relationships with artists and led clients on studio visits that bring them directly into the creative process — sourcing and commissioning paintings, murals, sculpture, and site-specific installations that shape how people experience the spaces they inhabit.

Her work extends beyond consulting into curation and public programming. She has produced and curated exhibitions, pop-up galleries, benefit art auctions, and public art installations — including community murals, corporate lobby exhibitions, and events at venues across Chicago and Louisville.

That conviction — that art belongs outside the gallery and inside the spaces where people actually live and work — is the foundation Sage Light Studio is built on.
